Uptown Wagon is a volunteer-only mutual aid group that comes together to support unhoused neighbors in and around our neighborhood with hot meals, masks, sanitizer, personal hygiene supplies, clothing and solidarity. The wagon rolls every Wednesday night, and the group goes to wherever unhoused neighbors may be staying. The group also host monthly freestores with a more extensive clothing selection, a free clinic, and community resources.
Uptown wagon is looking for space to store their donations and supplies (including wagons, tubs of clothing, PPE, toiletries, tables, tent, etc) in between their weekly distribution and their monthly freestores.
An ideal space for Uptown Wagon would be:
Located in Upper Manhattan, ideally near 125th St or along Broadway in Hamilton/Washington Heights
At least a 10 x 15 space, more if possible, where they could organize their clothes and supplies donations, and store their own supplies
Accessible late night after their freestores and weekly distribution (~1 am)
Accessible by the group's volunteers during the day to sort, organize and prep their care kits
Accessible for donation drop offs at least once a week (volunteers could coordinate), and ideally package delivery as well
Uptown Wagon would be grateful for any offers of space that they could use. If you know of a space, please email uptownwagon@gmail.com or send a message on their instagram @uptownwagon.
