Mayor de Blasio recently announced the Open Streets plan, opening 40 miles of streets to allow for greater social distancing during the #covid19 crisis.
Open Streets are available daily (8a - 8p) to allow pedestrians and cyclists to access the street and maintain social distancing. No through traffic is permitted, except local deliveries, pick-ups/drop-offs and necessary city service or emergency vehicles.
Local streets near Hamilton Heights designated as Open Streets include:
Edgecombe Ave, starting at Jackie Robinson Park
138th Street, between Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Blvd & Malcolm X Blvd
143th Street, only the portion adjacent to Charles Young Playground
A full map is available for download. Detailed coverage of the Open Streets plan can be found at StreetsblogNYC.
