New 'Market In The Heights' Addresses Food Insecurity

The new "Market In The Heights" brings a farmers market, artisan market, and food pantry to the neighborhood on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 12 pm to 6 pm. The Market's mission is to address food security in Harlem while also supporting community agriculture.

Market In The Heights is located at City College, at the corner of 138th Street & Convent Avenue, or 160 Convent Avenue, New York, NY 10031 to be exact. There are at least twelve (12) participating vendors this year. Check out the Market's Instagram for updates.

You can also join a 'Farm Share' through Market In The Heights (sometimes called Community Supported Agriculture programs, or CSAs). Farm share programs provide a direct link between local farmers and consumers by allowing members to purchase a share of a farmer’s crop before it is grown each season. This provides the farmer the up front cash needed for seed, equipment, and other expenses to farm throughout the season, so they are less reliant on bank loans. Each week during the season, the farmer delivers a share of great tasting, healthful food to predetermined locations, where members pick it up. Learn more here.
